Hosted by Local Authority Building Control, the third Built in Quality Awards took place last Thursday, in Huddersfield at Bagden Hall, where West Yorkshire’s most impressive construction developments and projects were honoured for their outstanding quality work and excellence in both design and construction. The lucky winners now go through to the national finals held in London later this year.
There were seven different categories ranging from restoration to sustainability and winners were presented with certificates and engraved cut glass crystal trophies.
The winners were as follows:
Commercial and Community project awards were collected by GMI Construction and Keir Northern, both of Leeds for local projects including Beeston Primary and Thorpe Park. The award for Sustainability was received by Wates Construction for the Primrose Hill, new development build in Huddersfield.
The Domestic Extensions category was won by A E Haywood & Sons of Holmfirth, for home project “Drewan” on Fenay Lane in Almondbury. The New Dwelling (Under 10 units) category was snapped up by Mr. & Mrs. Greenbank for their Project “Oak House” in Halifax. David Wilson Homes beat Ricert Ltd and Oakwood Developments to win the New Dwelling (Volume) category and Clayton Homes were victorious in the Restoration & Conversion categories for their exquisite developments at Valley Mills, Elland.
Over 200 guests braved the rain and gathered at Bagden Hall for these highly prestigious and much anticipated awards, which began with a drinks reception, followed by an impressive three course meal and entertainment for the evening from the incredibly funny, local comedian Gary Marshall.
The awards were also followed by a fund raising raffle for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity. Nicky de Whytell, West Yorkshire Air Ambulance Development Officer said ”The evening has been thoroughly enjoyable and a great success. We would like to thank everyone who attended the awards and for their generosity, as we managed to raise over £1300, which will be a crucial donation and allow Yorkshire Air Ambulance to continue saving lives across the region.”
The event was sponsored by all local authorities, LABC and Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Barbour Information Services, Dorlain Communal Entrance Systems, YBS Insulation ARCO Safety and Maintenance Suppliers, Yorkshire Water, noise.co.uk and Ten Alps Publishing.
